How much do they cost?

View the full range and what’s included by visiting 1MillionTurtles.com.

How do you anchor the islands?

We use standard small boat anchors. They are reliable and can be secured based on site conditions.

Are the islands mobile?

Yes! Islands can be towed in by canoe and removed from the water at any time.

How many people are needed to move them?

  • Towing: 1–2 people.
  • Removing from water: 4–6 people.

What is the maintenance schedule?

  • Once a year: Refresh nesting box by loosening grass and adding new soil; check bolts.
  • Twice a year: Replace hessian if birds are wearing it down.

How long will the island last?

Our materials are rated for 10 years. With annual checks (especially for bolts), your island will thrive for years to come.

What if we don’t want the island anymore?

Contact us at 1MillionTurtles.com and we’ll assist with responsible removal or rehoming.

The birds are eating all of the plants off the vegetation pod – what do we do?

This is common. You can:

  • Contact us for support.
  • Replace vegetation with more mature plants from the surrounding wetland.

Where has our island gone?

In rare cases, high winds can dislodge the anchor. The island will likely be floating near the edge of the wetland. Use a canoe or kayak to retrieve.

Do I need to replace the camera batteries?

No. Our cameras are solar powered. You can also use the real-time camera app to check the battery indicator.

I can’t see anything on the camera – what now?

The camera may be dirty. Simply tow the island in and wipe the lens.
