1 Million Turtles Community Conservation Program
1 Million Turtles Community Conservation Program
World Turtle Day aims to spread awareness about the importance of turtles
and the need to protect them and their habitats.
To be a part of this day, we have created four engaging lesson plans for your
school to choose from and implement during the week of World Turtle Day.
These lesson plans are designed for Stage 3 students and cover important
topics related to freshwater turtle ecology, threats and conservation. Each
lesson also includes background information and hands-on activities.
Classroom based lesson about
freshwater turtle morphology, life cycle and habitat
use.
Wetland based lesson where
students visit their local wetland, identify turtle
habitats and assess the wetlands health.
Classroom based lesson about the
threats to Australian freshwater turtle species.
Wetland based activity where students create and monitor nest
predation rates.
