Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at 1MillionTurtles@1MillionTurtles.com

if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We have numerous Biohaven Island packages available for purchase. You can view the packages on offer here.

Personnel from the 1 Million Turtles Community Conservation Program will deliver, set up, and launch the island at your chosen wetland. This ensures the island is installed correctly and safely for freshwater turtles, waterbirds, and other wildlife that will use it.

Upon arrival at the wetland, the island will take approximately 2 hours to setup and launch.

Biohaven Islands are designed for minimal maintenance. You will be trained to maintain the island or maintenance will be handled by the 1 Million Turtles Community Conservation Program personnel as part of your selected package. Each year, the grass on the nesting boxes will be trimmed or replaced, and the mesh on the ramps will be replaced to ensure the island remains safe for use by wildlife. That's about it.  We have a dedicated Island Maintenance Page (you will need to create an account)

Biohaven Islands are designed to last approximately 10 years. Annual maintenance is required to keep the island in optimal condition, but the structure itself will remain stable over time. Have a look at our materials page (you will need to create an account to access it)

As part of your chosen package, personnel from the 1 Million Turtles Community Conservation Program will conduct all biodiversity monitoring. Cameras installed on the islands will provide valuable insights into the turtle species present, turtle basking and nesting activity, waterbird presence and numbers, and overall wetland health. The data collected from the islands will support biodiversity monitoring efforts, including contributions to the Nature Repair Market, and will help guide ongoing conservation and habitat management efforts.
